This book is NOT for beginners. Hi CountryBoy, I have made many recipes from her book and found most of them to be excellent. Bersnbaum knowledge of the chemistry of baking, the accessibility of her recipes, and the incomparable taste of her creations make this book invaluable for home cooks and professional bakers alike.

Furthermore, she encourages you to make the recipes in her book your own. Still working my way through the book. Maybe its the pictures, maybe its the recipe layout, but this one is less accessible. Mostly, the several page aspect is okay but unfortunately, the bagel ingredients list is over 3 pages, with the half recipe and full recipe spelled out for the starter and the final dough.

At this time this is my favorite bread book. So far it has been my favorite for the subject of bread making, but I do have many others checked out from the library I did not read this cover to cover, but skipped around a lot and feel as though I have read the entire book.

I think the recipes are approachable, that Rose is a good guide through process.
